Mathematics: The Winton Gallery, Science Museum, London

For this project we designed complex structures for many different interactive display panels.

The panels were designed by Zaha Hadid to fulfil different functions, including way-finding, fixed information cards and interactive screens, including some large display panels.

As you can see in the analysis model below, the structures were complex and carefully coordinated to make sure the structure was hidden and as slender as possible, but still strong enough for public use and interaction.

We also considered ease of use, coordinating access panels for wiring, attachment methods for the screens and a system to fix the panels to the existing museum floor.

The floor fixings were particularly difficult, as the quality of the slab was highly variable. In some areas we had to design adapter brackets to accommodate unique problems that were encountered in the slab.

The gallery opened to the public in September 2017.
