We are proud to be helping Morley College expand and improve their art gallery to meet international standards, to host international art exhibitions and also showcase their students’ work.
The project involves expanding the existing front art gallery over the full footprint of the existing building, plus a new feature staircase to provide public access and expansion of the gallery into basement level.
The existing building, originally a pub then bombed during the Blitz and rebuilt, was very challenging to understand having undergone at least 3 faces of extension with no record drawings. The existing structural arrangements is very complex and we worked hard to economically adapt the existing building to meet the new requirements of the college.
Having started on site, we discovered more opportunities to reduce costs, Which we have been able to incorporate into our design quickly to avoid delays.
