Refurbishment and alteration of Grade-II listed TV studios

The building is home to the London recording studios of ZDF, the second German national TV station.

Structuremode designed a complete refurbishment of this grade 2 listed building, to allow reinstatement of some original features, and to improve the structural arrangement of the basement areas.

The existing stone ‘cantilevered’ staircase was obscured by an unusual landing area. Although original, we obtained permission to remove it, and we determined a method by which it could be easily removed without affecting the existing stone stair. A new handrail was designed and coordinated, for the new void, cast in iron to match the existing balusters.
