We welcome applications from experienced and competent contract Senior Structural Engineers (with minimum of 5 years relevant UK post-graduation experience) to work with our London based team on an ad-hoc and contract basis.

This senior role will allow the right person to work flexibly, remotely and autonomously. You will be designing, detailing and managing a mix of bespoke refurbishment and new-build projects, as well as unique staircases, sculptural elements and temporary pavilions.

The role will involve working collaboratively with our Director and other team members with a mix of in-person meetings and remote sessions, using MS Teams. We use Planner to keep track of tasks and track progress on projects.

• Lead role on projects to produce all project documents with minimal supervision.
• Liaise with designers to promote efficient structural arrangements and lowest possible embodied carbon material use.
• Liaise with design team and contractor to ensure smooth running of projects.
• Manage and guide graduate engineers and technicians as required.

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered with 5+ years relevant experience in similar UK practice.
• Excellent understanding of fundamental structural engineering principles and common-sense.
• Experienced in complex refurbishment, innovative new-build and multi-storey developments.
• Knowledge of arrangement and common problems with period properties in London, and their conversion.
• Ability to develop robust, practical and simple structural details with clear notes.
• Excellent communication skills for smooth articulation of engineering issues over the phone and by email.
• Experienced at structural analysis, preferably using Oasys GSA.
• Produce appropriate calculations by hand, and using Tedds or Excel as appropriate.
• Competent at hand sketching, as well as AutoCAD for 2D and Revit for 3D structural drawings.
