The Listening Project

This was a competition entry we developed with Pedder & Scampton Architects.

The concept was to build the walls and roof out of fabricated cardboard blocks. The blocks were made of many corroguated cardboard sheets, laminated vertically. These blocks would be lightweight and profiled on the edges to simply interlock and avoid the need for additional fixings..

To achieve adequate sound proofing an additional layer of rubber would be sprayed onto the cardboard blocks, or otherwise applied to the external face in sheets. The corrugated surface would have performed well as an internal acoustic absorbent finish.
